By definition, being positive is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. A person with positive thinking mentality anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes that he or she can overcome any obstacle and difficulty (The Bright Side).
Particularly during challenging times caused by the Pandemic, it is even more important to discover practices and develop habits that will increase positivity.
I would like to suggest a strategy that is a little off the beaten track that is profoundly successful.
This strategy enlists the power of our subconscious mind! I appreciate that this sounds like psychobabble, but it is an awesome coaching tool that will amaze those who take a few simple steps! This strategy can also be generalized to any topic that is within your control and needs to be changed. For example, it is commonly used for personal growth topics such as improving listening skills, stress management, etc.
Here’s how it works. Start, and end, each day by reviewing a simple note that has been placed where it will be seen. All the note has to say is “I need to be positive today!” All you need to do is read it and move on. This will engage your subconscious mind to create a “self fulfilling prophecy” through your thoughts and actions. Regardless of what happens, you will experience more positivity and reap the rewards!
So, as Forrest Gump says, "you never know what you're gonna get". Being positive will squarely place you in the driver’s seat to get the most out of what life tosses your way! Give it a try and feel free to share with me how well it goes! (steve@hrprimed)
Don’t expect every day to be the best day in your life. But do expect the best from life, every day. Never ever give up, and always stay positive.
